A Powerful Partnership: Staff and Volunteers Working Together!

Friday, May 1, 2009
10:00 am - 3:00 pm

The Latin School of Chicago
59 W. North Blvd.
Chicago, IL 60610

Registration for this workshop is now closed. If you have any questions, please call the ISACS office at 312-255-1244.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of every independent school but all too often this precious resource can feel scarcer than hen's teeth. How can schools capitalize on the skills and talents of their volunteer pool? What approaches work well with volunteers these days? Are there pitfalls to avoid? This workshop aims to debunk the prevailing (and often inaccurate) myths about volunteers and offer, instead, a series of practical strategies designed to expand or rejuvenate existing programs.

Topics to be explored include:

  • Myths, assumptions and realities about today’s volunteers
  • Tips for finding, recruiting and managing volunteers
  • Creative ways to acknowledge and steward volunteers
  • Cultivating strong volunteer leaders
  • Resources to help you develop, expand or improve your school’s volunteer programs

Resource Exchange:

Here’s your opportunity to “show, tell, and show off.” Share copies of your handbook, newsletter, sign-up sheets....whatever you have in your bag of tricks that you’ve used effectively in support of your volunteer programs. Come away with fresh ideas from colleagues in other ISACS schools.
