Character in the Classroom: Practical Strategies for Bringing Out the Best in Kids

Tuesday, October 13, 2009
10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Latin School of Chicago
59 West North Blvd
Chicago, IL

This upbeat, lively and funny presentation is for teachers at all grade level. The focus is on creating a "Caring Community" in the classroom. It's about helping kids develop solid character traits while maintaining high academic standards. It's about tapping into each child's most important resources: positive attitude, good manners, kind words, hard work, and clean humor. Hal Urban, winner of the 2005 Lifetime Achievement Award in Character Education, and the author of the best-selling Life's Greatest Lessons, was an award-winning teacher for 35 years. He will share simple, practical, and do-able strategies that help teachers become their best while bringing out the best in students.

Dr. Hal Urban was an award-winning teacher at both the high school and university levels for 35 years. He is also the author of five books, including Life's Greatest Lessons, winner of the 2001 Inspirational Book of the Year Award. In his new book, Lessons from the Classroom, Urban shares the most valuable things he learned about effective teaching during his many years in the classroom. He has spoken to teachers at all grade levels, and was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in Character Education by the Character Education Partnership in 2005. He has presented in 42 states and five foreign countries, and receives outstanding reviews everywhere he goes.

This workshop will take place at The Latin School of Chicago, 59 West North Boulevard, Chicago. The Latin School is conveniently accessible by public transportation and taxis. Click here for directions and parking information for The Latin School.
