Becoming a Center for Parent Learning
Robert Sornson, Early Learning Foundation

Wednesday, March 14, 2012
10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Hotel Allegro
Chicago, IL

There has never been a more important time to help children become successful learners and to develop academic and social skills which help them become learners for life.  In addition to offering great learning opportunities at school, outstanding schools are  beginning to see their role as partnerships with families, offering training in child development, learning theory, and behavior and social skill development to maximize learning success for children in their schools and in the community.  Become the center for parent/guardian/grandparent learning in your community.
In this interactive workshop, you will discover how to make your school a center for parent learning.  Learning goals for the day will include:
  • Building trust and respect
  • Identifying parent learning needs
  • Building a culture that supports parent learning
  • Key elements of a successful plan
  • Developing a plan for your school
Schools should consider sending a team of teacher leaders, division head and/or head of school.  Teams could also consider including parent team members. All grade levels welcome.
