Curriculum 21: Upgrading Curriculum and Assessment for the 21st Century Learner
Heidi Hayes Jacobs

Thursday, December 13, 2012
9:30 am - 3:00 pm

Hotel Allegro
Chicago, IL

What year are you preparing your learners for?  2025? 2012? 1990?  Schools are a launching pad into the future, thus, as educators, we need to consider whether we are genuinely preparing our students for a changing world.  Join Dr. Heidi Hayes Jacobs in this active learning lab as ISACS participants explore how we can become contemporary educators.  She will share her model for upgrading the curriculum for classes K–12 and  consider new programmatic versions of what school looks like from "the flipped classroom" to virtual academies.  A special focus will be on the new literacies: digital, media, and global and how to embed these skills directly into instruction.  Bring a 21st century mindset and your laptop or tablet to harness the power of social media, web 2.0 tools, and contemporary media assessments.

The presentation is based on her best-selling book: Curriculum 21: Essential Education for a Changing World (ASCD) and her upcoming new book with Solution-Tree, Leading the New Literacies: Digital, Media, and Global.
