On Wednesday, January 29, 2014, as part of the New Heads Network, please join your colleagues for reception and dinner on the eve of the start of the 2013 Heads of School Conference. Preregistration for this event was required as part of the New Heads Network.

This event is part of a year-long opportunity and support system for new heads of school. Events take place:

  • Monday, June 16-Tuesday June 17, 2014 in St. Louis, MO

New Heads Network Faculty
Thomas Hoerr, PhD is head of New City School in St. Louis. He has led schools for 34 years, and has written extensively on leadership, faculty collegiality, and multiple intelligences. He initiated and taught in the Non-Profit Management Program at Washington University in St. Louis. Tom is the author of three books, School Leadership For The Future (published by NAIS), The Art of School Leadership and Becoming A Multiple Intelligences School (both published by ASCD). Tom writes a monthly column for Educational Leadership, “The Principal Connection,” has authored more than 100 articles, and has presented at conferences around the world. His current interest is “grit,” and a short form he wrote on it will be published by ASCD in the fall.
Keith Shahan, EdD is President of ISACS and past head of John Burroughs School in St. Louis for 23 years. Keith has visited every ISACS school and visits all ISACS new heads in the fall of their first year. Prior to his Burroughs headship, Keith held posts in international and public education. He writes to ISACS heads throughout the year to update them with thoughts about the headship, happenings around the region, ISACS, and education in general.

Registration Fee
A new head must be registered for the entire New Heads Network to attend on Wednesday evening January 29th program.
We also encourage the new head to attend the 2014 Heads Conference, January 30 - January 31, 2014.  New heads enrolled in the New Heads Network will pay a $300 registration fee instead of the $600 registration fee for the Heads Conference. (New heads must register for Heads Conference separately). Click here for information on the 2014 Heads of School Conference. If you enrolled in the NHN and are planning to attend the 2014 Heads Conference, please contact the ISACS office to receive your coupon code to receive the discounted registration fee.
