New Heads Network - June 15 and June 16, 2015

On Monday, June 15 and Tuesday, June 16 as part of the New Heads Network, please join your colleagues for a two day program at New City School, St. Louis, MO. Preregistration for this event was required as part of the New Heads Network.

This event is part of a year-long opportunity and support system for new heads of school. Events take place:

  • Wednesday, January 28, 2015 in Chicago, IL
  • Monday, June 15-Tuesday, June 16, 2015 in St. Louis, MO

New Heads Network Faculty
Thomas Hoerr, PhD is head of New City School in St. Louis. He has led schools for 36 years, and has written extensively on leadership, faculty collegiality, and multiple intelligences. He initiated and taught in the Non-Profit Management Program at Washington University in St. Louis. Tom is the author of four books, School Leadership For The Future (published by NAIS), The Art of School LeadershipBecoming A Multiple Intelligences School, and Fostering Grit: How do I prepare my students for the real world? (all published by ASCD). Tom writes a monthly column for Educational Leadership, “The Principal Connection,” has authored more than 100 articles, and has presented at conferences around the world.

Claudia Daggett, MSEd is the new ISACS president. Claudia began her independent school career as a teacher at The Prairie School and has served in a variety of leadership roles, including 11 years as head of school at Friends Academy in Massachusetts. Following headship, she served as executive director of the Elementary School Heads Association and independent consultant with Gregory Floyd & Associates. Claudia looks forward to visiting schools and getting to know ISACS heads, a process she is chronicling in her blog, “Stopping By,” at

  • Sharing of first year experiences among the group
  • Sessions on the headship, business officers, development and board relations
  • Planning for the future

On Monday, breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided. On Tuesday, breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Tom and Claudia will gather for dinner on Sunday evening for an informal dinner for those who are in already in St. Louis (at your own expense).

Kingshighway Blvd, St. Louis.  To make a reservation, please call 1-877-587-2427 or 1-314-633-3000 and request the “Independent Schools Association of the Central States” room block in order to receive the discounted rate. The discounted rate will be available until Monday, May 25, 2015. Rooms are available the nights of Sunday, June 14 and Monday, June 15.  If you are having any problems making a hotel reservation at the discounted rate, please call the ISACS office at 312-750-1190.

A special rate has been negotiated for the ISACS New Heads Network. Reservations MUST be made online to receive the discounted rate.  Walk-ups will not be eligible for convention rate, standard rates will apply.  Please click here to go to the Go Best Express website and begin your reservation. The discounted convention rate of $16 each way per person is offered.  Credit cards are required and charged at the time of reservation.

Registration Fee
A new head must be registered for the entire New Heads Network to attend the June 15 and 16, 2015 program. Please call the ISACS office at 312-750-1190 if you have any questions.
