Crisis Communications Bootcamp: Hope is Not a Strategy
Jane Hulbert and Jim Hulbert

Friday, September 25, 2015
9:30 am - 3:00 pm

ISACS Classroom
55 West Wacker Drive, Suite 702
Chicago, IL

There is no easy way to successfully navigate a crisis. But there are strategies which offer the best chance for a school to come out on the other side with its reputation intact and its school community stronger, and more united than before.  A crisis creates the ultimate test of the school and its’ administrative team.  In a crisis, time is the enemy and it is that time pressure that can overwhelm decision-making.

Participants will learn the following:

  • Advance planning: We will identify the steps you should take before you have a crisis.
  • What the crisis plan basics are: We will discuss what your plan needs and how to make it user friendly and not a binder collecting dust on a shelf.
  • Crisis 101: Understand the first steps in the first 60 minutes and beyond.  We will go through our step-by-step checklist of what you should do when a crisis hits your school.
  • Communicating in a crisis is a significant challenge:  We will share proven strategies that will help you get it right.  Managing the media will be addressed.
  • Case studies: Based on actual crises.
  • Leave with resources:  templates, guidelines and practical information on crisis management.

This workshop is for heads of school as well as communications, admissions and advancement staff and any role directly impacted by a crisis.
