Registration Update
As of November 10 there is only one spot remaining for this workshop. Please register as soon as possible. If you are registering more than one person please call the ISACS office at 312-750-1190. The system will only allow you to register one person. Any additional people will go on the waitlist. We anticipate the workshop reaching in the next day.

Some students learn to read quickly and easily, while others struggle at every level. Despite excellent research on best practices for teaching reading, many students continue to pose a challenge for even the best teachers. In this workshop, participants will learn:

  • what is now understood about the neurological foundations of reading
  • which students are at the greatest risk for problems learning to read, and why

The workshop will begin with pre-school including the pre-requisite skills and knowledge all children need in order to start reading,  followed by factors including language exposure, and processing capacities that can interfere with the brain’s readiness for learning to read.  For students in elementary grades we will cover brain research regarding the best methods for teaching reading and intervening when students are struggling.  At middle and upper school, we will review the factors that continue to affect reading achievement and what can be done in the later grades to assure success in reading and other academic areas.

This workshop is for all.
