Cyber Security in Independent Schools Workshop for Technology and Risk Management Leaders
Jamie Britto, Denise Musselwhite, Bob Olsen, & Buddy Pitt Thursday, July 13, 2017 10:00 am - Friday, July 14, 2017 3:00 pm This workshop is designed and led by four experienced technology leaders who understand the balance technology professionals must maintain between providing access to valuable resources and protecting school constituents. Each aspect of the workshop will be taught with a specific lens on the independent school technology environment. Leave this two-day workshop prepared to lead an independent school through the security review process and undertake steps necessary to ensure improved security for all areas (development, admissions, business, and academic functions) as well as the security of individual community constituents. Dates and Times Agenda Who Should Attend Presenters ![]() JAMIE BRITTO, Chief Information Officer at Collegiate School, Richmond, Virginia. Jamie’s responsibilities include infrastructure, data systems, and cyber security. In June 2016, he was recognized by Infotech as a CIO Award winner for medium size organizations. At Collegiate, Jamie works with and learns from a variety of experts in the technology, legal, and insurance industries to understand the emerging field of cyber security and how it might apply to independent schools.
![]() DENISE MUSSELWHITE, Director of Technology at Trinity Preparatory School, Winter Park, Florida. Denise is charged with planning, managing, and supporting the network infrastructure and Trinity Prep’s award winning BYOD. She is committed to meeting the needs of the community of users in the context of the school’s mission and financial sustainability. Prior to joining Trinity Prep, Denise served as the technology manager for an Orlando-based law firm.
![]() BOB OLSEN, founder and CEO of COMPASS Cyber Security, is a veteran-owned vendor agnostic cyber risk management consulting firm headquartered in Baltimore, MD. He has over 24 years of experience in operations, engineering, entrepreneurialism and cyber security. Mr. Olsen has an MBA and MS from Johns Hopkins University and is a Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP). In addition to leading COMPASS, Bob is an adjunct professor teaching cyber security to executives and graduate students at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School and serves on the board of TCO Labs. ![]() BUDDY PITT was introduced to his first computer at the age of three and quickly developed what has become a lifelong passion for all things technological. He has been with The Network Support Company for more than 20 years, the first 10+ as field technician. As networks became more and more crucial to sustainable operations, Buddy transitioned to the Managed Services team and was instrumental in creating many of the products TNSC offers. Drawing on his experience, Buddy designed systems that automate many of the things he did in the field to keep computers and servers running and secure. After working on and then managing the MSP team for several years, he moved on to Research & Development. In his current role, Buddy works closely with our software development team and technical advisory groups to continue developing top-notch products for our clients.
