School Description:

Meredith-Dunn School helps children with learning differences develop academically, socially and emotionally.  We value each child as an individual with unique strengths, weaknesses and learning patterns.  So, we personalize each child's instruction and create an environment rich in learning, growing and confidence-building opportunities.  We believe in the potential of all learners.  The mission of Meredith-Dunn School is to provide prescriptive instruction in a nurturing environment designed to empower students who learn differently in becoming accomplished learners and resilient individuals.  We foster an environment that holds the dignity and respect of each individual in the highest regard. The curriculum at Meredith-Dunn is delivered through research-based programs and specialized instruction. Our program is based on national standards and addresses content that has been aligned with that of local public and private schools.  Small class sizes and an eight-to-one student/teacher ratio ensure individual attention and set the stage for success.  Extracurricular activities such as athletics, drama, art, technology clubs and social events are valued as critical components of a student's success.  Meredith-Dunn School provides specialized services such as social cognition therapy, counseling and art therapy as well as consultation services of occupational and speech/language therapists.  Because we believe there is a strong correlation between movement and learning, an emphasis is placed on specific movement throughout the day that enhances the learning process.  It is both effective and fun for the students.
