School Description:

Cathedral High School is a private, co-educational, college preparatory Catholic school. Founded in 1918, Cathedral High School brings Catholic values to life every day in how we profoundly shape the way our students will think, serve and lead. Since 1918, Cathedral has lived Holy Cross values. That means we focus on the development of the whole student--affording them opportunities for spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional and physical growth. Today, that tradition continues as we are proud to be one of 17 schools in the country that have a formal affiliation with the Brothers of Holy Cross.

Students attend more than 130 different schools before entering Cathedral. A diverse population of students comes from Marion County and its 9 surrounding counties. Cathedral is situated on a 39-acre campus that includes main academic buildings of Kelly Hall, the Robert V. Welch Student Activity Center, Loretto Hall, the Cunningham Fine Arts Center, and the Joe O'Malia Performing Arts Center. Loretto Hall houses classrooms and the Language Support Program, which meets the special needs of bright, college-bound students with language-based learning differences. The Cunningham Fine Arts Center houses a variety of fine arts disciplines.

The Student Life Center features classrooms, a state-of-the-art library/media center, and the Student Commons, which includes game tables, televisions, music, food and areas for tutoring and spiritual reflection. All classrooms are equipped with SMART Technology or other advanced technology to facilitate varying learning styles. Beginning with the 2012-2013 school year, Cathedral will implement a 1:1 iPad program for all freshmen through junior students and faculty.

Home of the Fighting Irish, Cathedral has a rich tradition of excellence in academics, athletics, and co-curricular activities. A rigorous curriculum includes 37 Advanced Placement courses, which prepare students for postgraduate placement. A variety of co-curricular opportunities provide a well-rounded learning experience. Ninety-nine percent of students are involved in at least one activity. Cathedral fields 19 varsity sports teams and 8 club sports teams. Community service also is an integral part of the learning experience at Cathedral.

Three full-time college advisors and three academic advisors assist students in their holistic development. The college advisors work with students and parents throughout the college search and selection process. One hundred percent of Cathedral's graduates attend college, and the Class of 2013 has earned  over $28.5 million in college scholarships.
