School Description:

Oakhill Day School educates two year olds through eighth grade students and is a place where children discover themselves as learners in a community where they feel known and valued.   At Oakhill, learning is active, and teachers are guides, as well as instructors. The faculty nurtures the natural gifts of the children - developing the whole child. Students prepare for the future embracing environmental education, technology, and globalization awareness.  Oakhill’s students are engaged and challenged by the rigorous academic and specialist programs, as well as the varied activities of everyday school life. Oakhill strives to develop caring and responsible individuals with educated hearts and minds.

Families find warmth and security in the strong partnership that exists between home and school. We are a community of learners strengthened by the diversity of our members. The individual differences a child brings to Oakhill are respected, welcomed, and valued.
Core Values:

We encourage students to embrace their social responsibility through the development of strong moral values and self discipline.

We encourage critical thinking skills in all students so they will love the process and end result of learning.

We support students in reaching their personal best in physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development.

We encourage flexibility in curriculum development and teaching approaches in order to best fit the makeup of each classroom and each child.

We value respect for all people - students, staff, families, our community, and our larger world.

We value learning and we know that making mistakes is part of the learning process. We are preparing for the real world.

Oakhill's innovative and integrated curriculum challenges students to discover their gifts and provides numerous opportunities for personal growth and development.

The students are invigorated by the hands on approach to learning and are captivated by the relevance and engagement of the material.

With our small class sizes, teachers individualize, give personal attention, tailor the curriculum, involve all learning styles, and make use of small group teaching methods to ensure that all students are able to build upon their gifts and grow in all areas.

Oakhill prides itself in offering a child-centered program that recognizes the importance of an individualized education.

A child's first experiences in school establish patterns for learning that will continue throughout life. These experiences occur at Oakhill in a safe, secure and caring atmosphere.

We believe in a balanced approach, challenging students academically, while focusing on what is developmentally appropriate for each child.
