School Description:

Keith Country Day School is an independent, college-preparatory school serving students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12.  Founded in 1916 by Belle Emerson Keith, Mrs. Keith wanted to build a progressive school with a vision to value the unique interests and abilities of students.  Since its origins, Keith has earned a reputation as one of Rockford's top schools, employing exceptional faculty, featuring small class sizes, and a liberal arts curriculum that educates the whole child. Located on a 15-acre campus overlooking the Rock River, the school is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools and fully accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States and the Illinois State Board of Education.  Although it is known for its rigorous academic program, the student environment at Keith is not a high-pressured setting but rather a place where curiosity and intellect are nurtured and valued.  Many graduates matriculate into the finest universities in the country and a most students in the Lower School are working above grade-level in math, science, language arts, and social studies. Enrollment at Keith is between 250 and 300 students in any given year.  The average class size is 15 students. More than 90% of the faculty have advanced degrees in the subject areas they teach.
